Many thanks to Russ and Brian for their work, i use the buffalo III + legato as monitoring dac during recording and mixing, i am very satisfied. Compared with my references the buffalo is more extended and controlled in the low and hi frequencies, you are able to perceive and shape the reverbs with great accuracy, and you have a completely new vision on the music you're listening to. really a great converter !!! more photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/acmrecording/Edited by user Monday, September 10, 2012 4:20:12 PM(UTC)

Nice build! Really simple and clean. I'm curious where the headphone jack's wires are going to?
I've got 5x IVY boards in my BIII build (4 for 8-channel output, 1 for stereo output) and it would be great to include a headphone jack for active monitoring through the DAC. Is it possible?

Nice and clean looking build. Nice to see that someone actually fitted it in a 1U chassis. Does it get very hot?

Thank you all for the compliments  Takaji, if you want a headphone output, you need a Legato 3.1, he has an output buffer to drive headphones, or alternatively an headphone amp like the ventus, but probably you will need an additional power supply to provide the extra current gwikse, in a rack unit gets very hot, but so far have never had problems, i have a mobile recording studio, and for me space and weight are very important, in the future I would use a more vented cover...

Are you using a modu (hifi2000) slimline case with Front panel express front and rear? If so you can proporably get a vented cover from modushop?

I use a modu slimline case 230 mm deep with Front panel express front and rear, unfortunately modushop don't have a more vented cover for this measure in the slimline series...

I only have Frontpanelexpress and cannot import those files. I wouldn't know how to use Autocad if I had it. I am software challenged. ;) |
