Hi, I read somewhere on the net that I2S signals are present on the outputs of the M-Audio Delta 1010 audio card. My thought is to use Teleporters to send I2S to my Buffalo III. So I scoped the outputs of my card and I think I've identified the signals. I wired up the outputs directly to the Buffalo just to see what would happen. Strange, I hear the music but extremely faint and way down in the noise floor. I used some cat5 cable about 9 inches long. Would the Teleporters help? I hate to waste the money on a set of Teleporters if this won't work. One weird thing is that the data signal seems to be offset a couple of volts. I would attach the scope shots, but not sure how to so. Are you certain the signals are I2S and not some other form of PCM?

No, I am not certain of anything. Can I tell from the oscilloscope? I had read that they are "buffered" I2s signals. The cable to the external unit is quite long so maybe they are not I2s.

I wish I could tell you, but I can't really tell form the scope shots either. Your best bet would be to get that info from the source.
The problem is that I2S can come in some flavors that aren't exactly normal - at least not the same form as the ES9018 expects, which is stereo with 64fs bit clock.
Some (old) DAC used a mono form of I2S with data on two sepearte signals. Some also used 48fs instead of 64fs bit clock.

I am happy to report success at tapping i2s signals from the Delta 1010. The problem was my own inexperience using the scope to identify the proper signals. I had the scope zoomed in too far to recognize the word clock. The 1010 has 5 volt buffered signals at the back connector. I found some vias on the board that have 3.3 volt signals. I am guessing that it would be better to use the 3.3 volt signals for the transporter. Do you agree Russ?.

Yes! The teleporter is not designed for 5V signals. 3.3V is the max.
