If the unlocking coincides with a change in sample rate, I'd be inclined to think it was the Hiface. When I change sample rates I get a slight delay with my Musiland USD 01 (set to 'precision').

That's really not a very helpful tone for a comment.

Without that comment I might have never even considered to redo the layout. He is more than welcome to check out the new one in my previous post.

You might be right, when I have some time I'll check it out with a different source, like pc onboard digital out.

Thank you!

I'm thinking about using balanced operation now. (there should be some sonical improvement there) There are basically two options. I can either use bare wire to connect it to my hypex based amplifier, or I can use 3 rca connections for the third rca being the balanced minus for both channels, is that stupid? XLR is out of the question, because of metalworking and size related problems.

Can I test the balanced operation out with leaving the Balse opamp section working as is?

I would not go the RCA route.

Just leave the BAL/SE part alone. You can test without it being wired.

You will really want XLR, even if it means direct wiring a couple of male XLR plugs via a short cable.

Barring that - direct wire.

Direct wire it is I guess. I see no gain to use 4 xlr plugs on short wires with the matching genders. (The amp has no XLR sockets either, but I can take it apart and solder the wire to the balanced output on the HG module.

edit:

As it turns out I'll need a quad channel ladder type volume pot in order to make this work. The volumite might not be a very good idea, since I'm using a PC based source and there is some picked up noise that benefits from passive volume control. (it's only apparent If I turn the volume up to the absolute max, which would equal not having a volume pot, when using a volumite)

Or I could just get a volumite and add resistors to the legato's balanced output. (I assume both the + and - parts need to be attenuated equally)
