Hello Russ & Brian - Can you tell me if the IVY III is capable of driving AKG 702 headphones directly or do I need to add a headphone amplifier.

Thanks,

Rick

Yes it is, if you have them wired for balanced drive. I have a pair and they sound great (excellent cans) with the IVY-III.

If you want to go SE or dual mono balanced I would recommend the Legato 3.1 because of its buffers.

I took a look at my headphones, doesn't look like a DIY project. Does AKG rewire these?

If you want to keep them wired as-is then Legato-3.1 is the way to go. :)

Cheers!
