Hello, when I switch from digital source S\PDIF to I2S, the analog output level drops half compared to S\PDIF.
I use exaU2I and PCM2707. Am I missing something in BII user manual?

Are you applying the PCM data to all four data inputs?

I connected exaU2I to BII according to instruction from exaDevices :
GND -> GND
DVCC -> DVCC
DCK -> DCK
LR -> D1
D.1.2 -> D2
From PCM 2707:
GND -> GND
BCK-> DCK
LRCK -> D1
DATA -> D2

I take dvcc from 3,3vdc I2C header
the rest should be OK

What is controlling your DAC? On-board firmware? Or something else?

On-board firmware. Normal, than "High Bandwidth" Firmware for Buffalo-II.

I use same computer, foobar2000 and J.River players, max volume.
Exa2ui with dedicated asio driver, PCM2707 with wasapi.

I do. I used normal, than "High Bandwidth" firmware. And tried without firmware chip.
And the result is the same. I have half analog level with I2S input. When use S\PDIF
input in normal analog level. Seems like ES9018 do not loading code from firmware chip.
How can I check this?

Without the firmware chip, you will not get the proper channel mappings, which could equate to less output. With the firmware chip, however, this problem would go away.
Besides that, I cannot think of what would cause this problem, other than a different signal level between the S/PDIF and I2S sources (I mean encoded signal, not voltage of the digital signal).

Brian, I use same computer, same software player, output level 100%. I do use firmware chip, just remove it to check what is situation without chip. With firmware chip or without firmware chip analog output level is same - half compared to S\PDIF input. Proper channel mappings is the first idea, like you say. The default mode is 6bit true diff. So I2S would be equal to SPDIF input.
