It looks to me like the analog part of the DAC is dead or damaged. Check if the output seem to be shorted to GND when powered off. Edited by user Saturday, June 9, 2012 2:42:47 PM(UTC)

Double check you solder joints around the AVCC. Also make sure there is nothing shorting any DAC pins on the DAC chip.

Hello Russ,
ok i double check all the solder pins again. i use a loupe with 10x
there is no GND short to signal pins ( i check with an Multimeter if the BIII was off, sidecar and 4 x SPDIF to.
the voltages are all ok
the + and - Output from the BIII is not short to GND if the BIII is off, but there is still different Offset voltage, between + and -, 0 V to over 100 mV. always when i switch on is a other Offset voltage!
I check this points many times and i have no answer.
it still no locking to my HiFace EVO.
My BII working perfect but my BIII not.
I am not happy, i spend over 400 $ + german TAX.
What can we to?

Hi Have you tryed another SPDIF source? I have more locking problems with my cdplayer and much less with my DVD. If it works with BII it should work with BIII but i would check the input route to BIII and compare with BII. Maybe you did it already. Just a thought, i am not an expert. Russ and Brian are. Regards

The wild offset makes it sound as if the analog section of the DAC has been damaged. Mostly likely ESD or over-voltage at the AVCC module. It is very hard to say.

Hello Russ,
it is not helpful. The voltages was always ok and not to high. Iam a elektronic and i had never problems with ESD.
Give a answer on my PM please.
