Hello Brian, i build my B III with B3_SPDIF_4 and Sidecar, on a Legato 3.1 I/V Stage. Placid HD and Placid HD bipolar supplys. All the V are correct 1,2V; 2 x 3,3V out from the trident Vin 5,25V. when i test it with out the legato, i get no lock from my m2tech high face EVO. If i but it on the legato, i can not adjust the DC output Voltage to 0V and is no lock to. i have DC output on the BIII + - left 127mV right 46mV. My BII works perfect on the legato! The Dip SW 1 and 2 is "OFF" when the Dip is on the side by the numbers and is "ON" when the Dip is on the side where is signet ON, right? If i must switch the Dip SW when is POWER ON? Looks like you are using S/PDIF from the HiFace, correct?
How are you selecting the correct input (I assume dip switches)?
Have you tried adjusting the DPLL bandwidth?

Hello Brian, yes i use SPDIF, i try coax 75 Ohm and AES/EBU, and the DAC have no lock.
For test i use the DIP Switch, later i use the input selector from you.
DPLL bandwidth is in default SW1.5 1.6 1.7 in OFF.
Can i switch the DPLL bandwidth when the DAC is working?
what i try was, i disconnect the Sidecar and there is no lock too.
i try all 4 inputs from the input board.

Try setting the DPLL switches to all On. I believe these are read only at startup (need to check).

I could be wrong but it looks like the male header at the DAC digital inputs should be on the top side, not the bottom.

That's exactly it. Your signal and grounds are swapped.

From what I understand you have connected the input pins to the ground pins. Like the first picture The correct way is aligning the pins as if they were stacked like in the second picture. Edit: colors show what row of pins are connected Edited by user Tuesday, June 5, 2012 1:10:20 PM(UTC)

The truth is it depends on the exact header used (not sure in this case)
The best plan is to actually check each signal pin and make sure it is *not* shorted to GND. :)
We can proceed from there.

Hello gwikse,
my connecting is ok, like your 2nd picture. i use some angled connectors one male and one female. on the BIII is mounted underside on Sidecar on the Top.
i disconnect the sidecar and i use only the 4 SPDIF input and no LOCK. i try all 4 inputs.
i find out a another mysterium, always i switch the BIII on, i have different Offset on the +- Output from the BIII. From 0 mV to over 100 mV, also when i disconnect Sidecar and 4 SPDIF input Board.

i check all the signal pins and all not shorted to GND.
Why i have different DC Offset on BIII +- Output?
and why i have different output DC voltage, + or - to GND, between 1,2 V and 1,77 V?

Check the output of the AVCC modules.What do they measure?
