Build is B3 in stereo with side car and spdif 4 boards, ivy 3, placid and placid HD power supplies.

I have finished building the boards and am at the stage of connecting power from ac to transformers:

1. I was wondering how to hook up all four primary hot and neutral from both power supplies to the ac socket? I got a Euro style connector, but it only has room for two wires in each opening?

2. I hooked up each power supply separately (one at a time) due to the hook up situation above and got 3 lights on
the placid and six lights on the placid HD. No smoke or sparks. This is without hook up to the ivy or dac boards.
I was reading all the material and it mentioned testing the various places on the pcb which I have found but don't know how to use the mm.
Please explain how to use a multimeter. I have radio shack analogue mm but don't know where to set the meter and where to put the probes??? I tried but got no readings.

Your help would be appreciated for this oldie/but noobie.

Hi JGlacken

1. Connect them parallel. You can connect multiple transformers to the two pins. You can use terminal blocks or something similar. Connect them the same way like you did when connecting them separately.

2. The answer is written down here:

EDIT: use the Direct current range (DC V)

1. TP_out --> TP_shunt: (set it to a millivolts rating, the one that is higher then 50 mV --> 200mV on my multimeter )
2. TP_Vin --> TP_ccs: (set it to a volts rating, the one that is higher then 0.5V --> 2V on my multimeter )
3. TP_vref --> GND: (set it to a volts rating, the one that is higher then 5V --> 20V on my multimeter )
4. V_out --> GND: (set it to a volts rating, the one that is higher then 5V --> 20V on my multimeter )

1 should be adjusted to 50 mV
2. When IVY connected it should be around 180 mV. The psb with the dac should measure about 500 mV.
3. On the placid HD for the dac it should be around 3.7V if I remember it well.
4. IVY --> a little bit lower that 15V. DAC --> a little bit lower than 5.25V

Remember to set the V_out --> GND before connecting the DAC or IVY! And set TP_out --> TP_shunt to about 50 mV. When connecting the dac or IVY the voltage will drop and the leds on the dac will probably not light up at all. Measure TP_out --> TP_shunt again. This should also have dropped and needs to be set up to 50 Mv again. Do not try to adjust the voltage! If all is well the lights of the dac start burning and the relay on the IVY clicks.

EDIT: Mine is a digital multimeter, not radioshack.

Well, after checking all kinds of things, I changed the batteries in the MM and still nothing, so I checked to see if the MM was working, and I think it is dead. Back to the store tomorrow.

Needed to replace the fuse in the mm.

My mm does not seem to have millivolts. It has DCV, ACV, mA, battery and Ohms.

Do I need another meter or is there a conversion that can be done?

Thank you Leon, that makes sense.

Another question on the VRs. I am trying to adjust the VRs before hooking up to load.
I read that you should be careful not to go beyond the stops.
On all of my VRs, I did not come across any stops. What does this mean and is it a problem?

If you got the voltages you need you likely don't have a problem.
