Hello, simple question regarding my Buffalo-III Firmware chip.
I received my Buffalo with a chip already in place on the board plus an additional chip in a poly zip bag labelled firmware V1.0.1.
I am not sure of the significance of the other (spare?) firmware chip or which to use or the difference.
Could you advice please.

Great DAC btw and is giving me great pleasure.

I believe I posted this question previously in the wrong forum in ignorance.

Many thanks
Tony

I think when we first started shipping the B-III, there was a last minute tweak to the firmware. Rather than pulling apart the kits I had already boxed up, the upgraded firmware was added to the order.

As far as what that tweak was, I can't recall off the top of my head, but I think it was related to an edge-case bug with the volume control code. I will confirm. I think you will want to change to the new firmware, however.
