Wild shoot - problem with the dual mono firmware ?

Since I hasn't got the BIII, I don't know whether it's possible easy to change to stereo configuration ?

Possible, yes.
Easy, not quite..

I have to dismantle everything and desolder and replace some jumpers.

But the problem seems to lay with the DAC's so to see. When these are powered the IVY's pass trough the DC Voltage.

Let's see what Russ or Brian have to say to this...

Desolder and replace jumpers? That sounds wrong. The left board is identical to the stereo setup, with just a switch setting it to dual mono.
In any case, I doubt this is the problem. Plus you have a spare firmware chip to test it with.
Have you also tested the DC with the IVY outputs disconnected (ie. not connected to the XLR connector)? Is the DC still present then?

I'm not going to do that. But I had to place some jumpers for the Dual Mono Setup other than for a stereo setup ain't it?

I will proceed tomorrow with the troubleshooting.
Than I will disconnect the wires from the SE outputs to the XLR's. But it seems strange to me if this is the case because these are all dead headded when the interlinks are not connected. But you never know...

I will post my findings tomorrow.

No, not on the board with the firmware. And on the other board only 2 jumpers are placed differently: ADDR + R7.

Does all the jumpers between J1-J12 (J1,J2,J3,J4,J5,J6,J7,J8,J9,J10,J11,J12) need to be installed or only J1 and J12 when preparing the Left and Right DAC Board for dual mono operation?

Now I only installed J1 and J12...

Ok, I installed all of the Jumpers and Great Success!!
No more POP when switching the AMP and (thus) no more DC at the IVY's outputs!

Problem solved! :)

(jet another problem occured; I had some locking problems with the COAX also connected to the MUX)
And deamn!! There is my groundloop again!!

Ok I have an idea...

I have Pin 1 connected to the chassis GND of both XLR connectors.
When doing this, this will create a ground loop trough both the interlinks and both chassis.
Now I only put Pin 1 of the LH connectors to Chassis GND....

Let's see if that helps...

The lockingproblems (I think just like Henri has) seems to be caused when connecting the Shield of the COAX cable of the COAX plug to the '-' of the MUX. But in the Integration Guide it is specifically stated that 'you do NOT want to connect GND' there.
This is only for the Toslink module. The COAX do require connection to the GND...

Hi Jordo,
The integration guide states you should use + and - for ALL kinds of SPDIF (via Toslink or Coax) input. Only AES/EBU uses the GND connection.

Yes I think Leon can give clarity about this.
My problems start when I Plug in the Shielding of the COAX Cable to the '-' of the MUX.

I have the Toslink module connected to the '-' now.
Acc to how I read the table at this moment I should stack the shield of the COAX cable of the Toslink module in the GND connection of the MUX...

Henri, did it helped putting the '-'and GND together?

Yes I use 75 Ohm COAX cable for the S/PDIF from the Toslink Module to the MUX.
I book very good results with this!!

I was listening/ looking to Radiohead In Between Rainbows the Basement Recordings.... FANTASTIC!!!
Ineed the quality improved after solving my issues!

Also, what I had not mentioned, the channels where reversed. If I dimmed the LH speaker trough the soundcard of the PC the RH dimmed en vice versa.
Now with all the jumpers installed also that's ok again. :D

Hi Jordo,
I just wrote you a post stating SPDIF is a symmetrical signal. I do not know how I could write that down, but I did and Brian pointed me to it. I use balanced cable connecting Toslink module and 4*SPDIF board but coaxial cable should work fine.
The SPDIF Coax IN is the only signal I still have to connect. Maybe this evening and thanks for the tip.

hm, ok. Only connecting the GND does not have any effect. The COAX does not work that way..

It seems that I have a locking problem as well. I might open a new tread for this problem.
The POP is solved.
