If I don't want to use a Volume Vontrol for the Buffalo III, can I simply not connect it to the board and assume the volume will be maximum? Thank you.

The integration guide rev 1.2.4 (page 22) says: If you don’t want to use the on-board volume control, connect PB4 to the 3.3V pin on the ADC connector (ADC, 15). Otherwise, wire up the pot like described in Adding volume control.
So applying 3.3V to the ADC connector will switch off the volume control. I'm planning to use a DPST switch to switch the volume controle on or off instead of turning to volume pot to 0K resistance to switch it off.
If I switch it with the DPST switch to instantly apply 3.3V to the ADC connector, will the chip switch of the volume control immediately off? Or will the volume go up to the maximal possible volume for a (split)second a then switch off the volume control? |

Sorry for asking this stupid question  . I did also realise this after reading my question again. If I want to use the mute function I could simply break the connection using a simple on/off switch, right? |

yes, I discovered this at 2am last night (this morning) after assembling my 8-ch B-III/exau2i board on a test slab, everything seemed fine, except no output..... Then, after reexamining every connection, reading as much as I could find on both this and the exa site on connection issues, and rereading the configuration guide 5 more times, I saw that 1 sentence reference to the fact that you need to do that jumper or no output. That reference might want to be underlined/bolded. Im guessing Im not the 1st person who did a board test mock up w/o the volume and got no output. Anyways, all's well that ends well... Thanks |
