Hi there, I finally came to the stadium of connecting the DAC to the PC and the amplifier. First I tried with the toslink module but no music was produced. Now I tried with the COAX S/Pdif but again no music, not even a little distortion on one of the channels. Everything stayes quit..... I do meassure some minivolts on the XLR outputs. I have no idea how much it supposed to be... Does the DAC work without the volume pot connected? I have no LED's installed at the source selector. I have read something about autodetect, can I disconnect the source selector? Also I have the shielding of the COAX cable connected to the '-' instead of GND just as the integration giude say's. Because the MUX and the sidecar where not connected to any GND I routed a wire from the GND of the Sidecar to the GND of one of the IVY's (signal GND). Help? Thx in advance, Jordo Edited by user Wednesday, April 4, 2012 1:55:25 AM(UTC)

Have you placed a jumper btw gnd and PB4? Edit: This is if you do not have a pot there and want fixed output Edited by user Wednesday, April 4, 2012 2:14:15 AM(UTC)

No I have not. I'm using a potmeter for the volume control so I have not used a jumper.... I see now in the manual that there will be no use skipping the volume pot unless it is jumpered...

I configured the DIP SW Settings to the highest level DPLL with automatic detecton and wthout the use of the IO connector. Indeed the DAc does not seems to get a lock.
I do meassure minivolts (alternating) on the S/Pdif COAX input....

I do not completely understand what is stated in this table:
Input selected SW2:1 SW2:2 D1 OFF OFF D2 OFF ON D3 ON OFF D4 ON ON
How do I have to set my switches here?
The D!-D4 are markings for the DIN connector... The Source Selector is connected to the EXT_IO connector...

Set my soundcard back to default and the Mute Led illuminates... connected the interlinks and the Mute went out. Disconnected again and the mute does not re-illuminate again... I don't get it... FFDShow is configured as PCM first and the rest 2.0 with the lowest Bit rates.. Edited by user Wednesday, April 4, 2012 4:14:02 AM(UTC)

Ok, I connected a simple CD player with optical out. Also I have a converter from Toslink to Coax so I can test the Coax-in to the DAC... Also I played around with the DIP SW settings. No help. The DAC is not producing any music.
I'm starting to think something must be (very) wrong.

I believe this is the correct settings for dual mono with sp-dif input selector SW1: 1-8 Off SW2: 1-2 OFF SW2: 3 ON SW2: 4-7 Off SW2: 8 ON The front panel switch will change SW2: 1-2 as needed to select the different inputs connected to the sp-dif board. If you get a lock when altering the computers digital outputs to 24bit 48Khz but then loose it again when you play music, this could be a software issue. Do you have any other digital sources to test with? Edit: apperantly you do. So that should have played music then. I would read the guide again if I were you. There might be something you missed. Edit2: did you get a lock from the cd-player? Edited by user Wednesday, April 4, 2012 1:02:42 PM(UTC)

Hi Qwikse, I applied the default Dip Sw settings and coupled the CD Player Direct to the (RH Master) DAC with the correct Dip Sw setings. I tried Toslink and COAX. I also tried the LH DAC bord and replaced the Firmware Chip. Not any result. Not a Lock LED or Mute, nothing.... I Don't understand if I have blown the DAC's.. I was very causious with the adjustment of the Powersupplies. Al the LEd's are burning but dat does'nt tell anything about the condition of the DAC itself I gueass.. Not any result. Not a Lock LED or Mute, nothing.... I would check voltages, wich output wire should go where (it`s easy to get differential dual mono wires crossed) and so on in the integration guide. Remember to only use one firmware chip and so on. There are so many things... So I would go over the entire setup from start to finish with the integration guide on hand to see if I had missed something. If you can not see anything, please be patient, it`s easy to damage things when troubleshooting if patience goes out the window. Make a list of things that have been checked in notepad or something, and then post it here (values and so on). Edited by user Wednesday, April 4, 2012 2:19:23 PM(UTC)

Yes, that's the next step to do. Go over from the beginning.... I will follow your advice. I had not expected things would be fine from the start.
Thx!

Edit: This is if you do not have a pot there and want fixed output This is likely your problem. The jumper goes between PB4 and 3.3V, not GND.

On the advice from Leon to meassure the voltages of the Tridents and AVCC modules I came up with the following values: All Tridents and both AVCC modules have 5,25V supplied. Both AVCC modules give 3,3V output on both outputs. RH Master DAC: The DVCC gives 1,2V out. The VDD ives 0,01V out The VDD_XO also gives 0,01V out De LH DAC DVCC: 1,4V out VDD: 0,01V out VDD_XO: 0,01V out I think I have some new Tridents to order...
