Hi! I read at the diyAudio forums that the teleporter module needs a voltage between 5V and 7,5V. How much current does it draw from the supply? I'm guessing that it only draws a low current. So a LM317 based supply is probably more than enough. Right? |

It depends on the frequencies and number of channels in use. If you plan for a max of ~150ma you will be fine.

I'm planning to use it to transport or teleport the I2S signal coming from my cd-pro2 module to the Buffalo III. Unfortunately it was sold out before I could buy one. So it in my case it I will used the advised settings, although I'm not entirely sure this is correct. Channel Usage: 0 Bit clock 1 Word clock 2 Data 3 Optional master clock (typically not used) Should the power supply be a (very) low noise supply or is it not critical for this module? After reading some more I found out that the Sabre DAC won't take the 48fps output of the cd-pro2. Mine is a cd-pro2LF. It probably makes no difference here. I'll have to use the metronome then, but where to install it? should it be installed in my cd-transport? Like this?
CD-pro2 --> Metronome --> teleporter --> teleporter --> sidecar --> DAC
or use it near the dac? Like this:
CD-pro2 --> teleporter --> teleporter --> Metronome --> sidecar --> DAC |

Either will work. Place it where it will have the best power supply.

So the teleporter does take the 48fps output of the cd-pro2. Right. Should the power supply be a (very) low noise supply or is it not critical for the teleporter module? Edited by user Wednesday, March 21, 2012 12:26:09 PM(UTC)

The supply is not that critical, since it has a local regulator. Obviously it should be decent.
The Teleporter is just an LVDS transmitter/receiver. It does not care what data you send/receive.

Thanks! Now I just need to order the DAC. It took almost two months before it could be ordered after the batch from January. Any ideas about how long it is going to take this time? |
