Tonight when I turned on my buffalo 3 and had nothing playing I noticed a quiet hissing sound about 10 minutes later for around 10-20 seconds and so I looked at the Buffalo (it's case is open on my desk) and noticed one of the trident LEDs was slowly blinking on and off; after the hissing stopped the LED stayed completely off. A few minutes later I noticed it came back on, and now it's off again but oddly enough everything still sounds fine at the moment. Does anyone have any thoughts what might be the cause? The case sits open on my desk so theres plenty of airflow so I can't imagine what might have happened after months of flawless operation.

After a few more hours of listening the sound started cutting out and this time the other LED on the trident started blinking, when that happened the lock LED went out at the same time. Does this mean that trident is failing or is there a bigger issue at hand?

Well seeing those solder blobs at the trident terminals I would redo those joints (A symptom of a cold joint usually) . Also be sure that you have enough current from your power supply.

Thanks a bunch Russ! I resoldered those 3 connections and all seems well now. I never realized that something like that could work for a long time and fail, I just assumed if it works it'll likely work for good. Back to enjoying the music! :)
