Hi
The desired output is +9vdc and 560mA. The manual seems to suggest it's ok to use the placid but with bigger heatsinks. I assume the 15VA transformer is plenty for this (I like headroom). Where can I get the heatsinks?
Comments please.

The Placid is designed to allow you to bottom- mount the TO220 transistors (bent at 90deg) so they can utilize a case or large heatsink.
I will post some sample pictures.

I will post some sample pictures. I'd be interested in seeing those pictures if you get a chance Brian :)

I have a 9V transformer. Would this be adequate for a placid supply for the squeezebox? Cheers.

Hi, I use Placid HD with Squeezebox Touch with 9v transformer. 9V is very good, but 8V will be the best. Placid is set to 890mA at 5VDC, less than 890mA is not enough. Additionaly i must use large copper heatsink 130x130x3mm, which is warm/little hot at operation. marcinpoz1qaz attached the following image(s): Schowek-1.jpg (206kb) downloaded 140 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. I have a Squeezebox Duet and I intend making a Placid-based PSU for it. I know people that are using it with very good reported results. A Squeezebox Duet needs 9V DC, but a Squeezebox touch only needs 5V DC I believe. So, ideally, the tansformer size should be different in order to optimize efficiency and minimize heat dissipation. I think, without being an expert, that you should consider: (V AC in the secondary * SQR(2)) - voltage drop from regulators(typically 3 - 4 volts).
I hope this helps.
Cheers. Jose.

Yes, i think that 12-13V transformer will be good for 9VDC from PlacidHD. I don't know about anount of current consumption of Squeezebox Duet base but i think it's less than Squeezebox Touch (no display etc)

Per specs, a Duet receiver draws 560 mA. However, I've seen several folks reporting about 750 - 850 mA as maximum draw. I'd recommend stay on the safe side.
Cheers.
