My personal experience is that I find an ordinary bridge to work great. The reason is that they usually contain diodes that are of the softer recovery type. So you get less HF noise at the point of rectification.
I have a cap at the Ac input to help filter out mains or other noise coming from the transformer.
So personal preference is a simple bridge. Its quick, easy, and actually sounds great.

Maybe a little small, but should work. I would go with at least 300-350VA.

Hello Russ and Brian, You're doing a very admirable job with your modules. I'm planning to get an Opus DAC and depending on pricing two Sympaticoes. I'd like to know if it would it be possible to run this amp from a 48VDC/8A SMPS, when I split the rails like described in Rod Elliot's Project 43 (it does run of split rails doesn't it?) and leave out the rectifier bridge? Unfortunately, no there is no simple way to make that work.
The good news is you just need one 400VA or so dual 24V secondary or something close.

Is it completly impossible to use the Sympatico with an switching supply?
I'm asking because I want to squeeze the amp into a small enclosure.

it is possible, but would need to have one that creates basically two voltages in series(a positive and negative supply).
I have seen people use two SMPS in series on gainclone amplifiers, but I think requires a modification to one or both the SMPS modules to lift the GND.
I don't use SMPS on my amps, so I can't offer a lot of help. I am sure it is possible, but it not likely to be simple unless you can find one that does split rails.

Thanks a lot for the link, this is very helpful. Would two 24V/14,6A SMPS be able to power two Sympatico modules if I connect them the way Nuuk demonstrated in the article you linked?
Oh, and by the way I bought the TXO Proto from the parts bin. How do I know I was first and really got it? And in case I was fast enough am I mistaken that I can also run the two power modules in Stereo SE as well? And can I run the modules of 24V or does it have to be 20V?
Sorry for off-topic n00b questions. ;)

I have to mark that as sold, thanks for the reminder. The prototype doesn't actually have power modules. Each channel is a single board. I get the feeling it's not what you thought it might be. I will send some pics (and post them on the site for each item).

Well, with power modules I meant the two boards. I called them power modules, because they are listed as Twisted Power Modules on the webiste. Or am I totally mistaken here?  Some pics would probably help to clarify things...
