Hi,
I have put together the Buffalo III board powered by Placid HD, however the current consumption for the board is 430 mA without other modules attached. It is quite a bit higher than the 350 mA BIII integration guide mentions. Placid HD is set to 5.248V output and 470mA CCS.
The output voltages on Trident regulators appear to be ok, VDD=1.198V; DVCC=3.318V; VD_XO=3.284V; AVCC=3.485V on both sides. All the LEDS on Tridents light up. However, the 1.2V VDD regulator gets very hot, within a few seconds of powering up the board it is impossible to keep a finger on QP1, QP2 or R4.
Is this normal current consumption?

The value quoted was intended as an estimate. We will update that in the documentation. I have my Placid set to 490ma. Edited by user Sunday, October 16, 2011 10:49:22 AM(UTC)

What's wrong with QP1 transistor it is getting so hot? QP2 in my setup of 1.2VDC trident is little warm.

It should be hot. That is normal.

How about the current for VD on the Buffalo 32, does the ~125mA stated in the manual still hold true?
