Hi,
I was wondering if the new Placid HD is compatible with the Buffalo II DAC board. The Buffalo II user manual stipulates a recommended input voltage of 5.5V and the Placid HD manual states that it is intended for output voltages of 10 to 20VDC.

I didn't see a Placid HD manual listed, the link to it on the product page links to the placid hd bipolar which is supposed to run around that voltage range. The Placid HD (non bipolar) is meant to power the Buffalo around 5.25V so you'll be fine. Leon's Buffalo 3 manual talks about it on page 23 here (http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/docs/community_docs/leonvb-Buffalo_III_DAC_Integration_Guide_V1.0.2.pdf). Hope that helps!

Quote:the Placid HD manual There is NO Placid HD manual. The link on the Placid product page redirects you to the Placid HD BP manual. The HD is fine for usage with a BII. If you haven't added Tridents, I'd recommend adding those before upgrading the PSU (LCDPS or Placid) to a Placid HD version. Please beware that the original BII manual isn't intended for a BII with Tridents. You should lower the input voltage to 5.25V. Up to date information is available in the integration manual for the BII (and BIII btw), both of which can be found in the Documents section.

Ok, thank you very much. That's certainly a relief. I do intend to upgrade to the Trident regulators for thoroughness.
