Hi

Do you still recommend increasing AVcc from 3.3 to 3.5 V? Or, rather, is this recommendation real, or just a figment of my imagination?

Absolutely real. :) It increases the dynamic range. Values much above that start to have the opposite effect.

and how do one adjust that, on the original TP shunt module ?

One doesn't. The output of the module is already ~3.5V
