I have a similar question regarding I2S input --

Will the COD board accept 16-bit data? and what about a master clock signal?
The TI data sheet for 1794a indicates that it might, but I want to be sure before I get a COD board.

My plan is to remove a Philips TDA 1543 chip in an old Philips-base CD player, and tap into the digital data at or near the chip socket, which has the following inputs:

BCK (bit clock input)
WS (word select input)
DATA (data input)
GND (ground)

The TI 1794 has similar digital inputs that match the above:

BCK (bit clock input)
LRCLK (left-right clock, same as WS)
DATA (serial audio data)
DGND (digital ground)

Plus others, most notably SCK (system clock).

The COD board requires BCK, LRCLOCK, and DIN (DATA in), and digital ground. The COD board also requires a SCK input. Can I use a clock signal from one of the decoders in the CD player (Philips SAA7210), which has two XTAL outputs? Can I use the BCK signal for the SCK, which seems to be the original I2S standard? I can measure clock rates etc. with a scope to make sure they are correct, but it would be good to know if the COD will work with an old CD player, even if it takes some extra work.
