I'm coming off of the d/a converter to a 1k resistor on +/- outputs to Legato balanced input for I/V conversion. My question is do I need the 1k resistors to set impedance of d/a in Sony or can I bypass these and be ok?Allen Wright had me add the 1k resistors to protect the dac in Sony.Output is a little lower than I'm accustomed to.Thanks in advance.

Mike

I believe the legato can be used in other configurations as an I/V converter. If you are familiar with the Sony dvp9000es d/a output,I have bypassed the I/V with all of its op amp stages.Per Allen Wright,I was told to put in 1k resistor off of each diff. leg to a 18db 50khz filter stage.Again- the 1k was used to protect the d/a converter by setting 1k output impedance.David Garretson(you may have exchanged emails with him) burned up his d/a chip because he took out the 100 resistor on the output of the d/a and has since, used the 1k as I have. I may be using the wrong terminology here so bear with me.What is the input impedance of the legato? Is there a resistive load it needs on input to work at its best to better match with the Sony? It's working as I have it now other than some digital noise.I plan to do the rest of your d/a system as it becomes available.

Mike from Nashville but presently in Columbus,GA.

Legato is not intended for use with a voltage output DAC. I have no information on DAC you are using, so I am afraid you are on your own.
