Hi,

I've recently has an order sent (to the UK) and on tracking it through the
stamps.com website it appears to be 'stuck' at "Into Foreign Customs"
for the last three days - has anyone had a similar experience/has
advice about how to proceed?

Best regards,

Kevin

Hmm, in a timely manner I've just received a letter from UK customs asking
for clarification about the consignment (value).
I wonder, are the consignments always sent with the same declarations and/or
is it just random chance as to whether they get 'snagged' in (UK) customs.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated as I'd like to place further orders.

Best regards,

Kevin

I think it's fairly random going from my experience - the higher the declared value of the goods the higher the chance of customs attemtion.

I expect you'll only be charged for VAT Kevin. Fingers crossed... I've currently got three TP packages on heir way, one of which like yours is "In Customs". As the other folks have posted, it does seem to be random whether or not you get stung for duty.

suffolk tony: do you tend to divide up your orders into smaller consignments or is that just a quirk of when things were available?

Just when they've become available. Now if only those blasted Tridents would reappear for ordering I'd have another package on the way...

so I've filled out the customs form and sent it back (a week ago) - does anyone know
whether they take payment of delivery or is one supposed to take the initiative and
call to arrange payment - or wait for another letter? Any estimate of time scales?
At this rate I'm tempted to make another order while it's still available:-)
Thanks in advance

Usually whichever courier is handling delivery charges you on behalf of customs (they tend to leave a card and either you ring up + pay or go to your local depot). They also add on a handling charge which is ~£5->£15 for doing this for you. I think it was parcel force that brought mine in and they charged £12 but I might be mis-remembering. Mine sailed through customs with no forms necessary however so ymmv.
