Hi

I'm using an Opus + SPDIF + OTTO + USB and I've got another Opus as a spare aside.
The last Opus has been hardly modded by a DIYer, I haven't tested it yet, but I hope it works.

Questions
1° - Where can I source WM8741 at a good price ?
2° - Which onboard parts are subject to improve Opus sound quality ?
3° - While I've got 2 Opus modules, how to wire them as a "dual Mono", I mean one Opus DAC for each chanel (L/R) ?
BTW is it a great improvment ?
4° - Does the PSU requires more VA if 2 Opus are feeded with the actual PSU ?

Cheers

Phil (korben69)

1. Mouser sell them for 11 eur. Currently out of stock though.

2. Changing output caps and better local PSU regs are probably the places where you can influence the sound most. For better and worse. The Opus is a very good DAC as is, so don't expect big improvements. Its also easy to destroy both printboard and other parts when swapping components.

3. You find info on how to wire in dual-mono here: http://twistedpearaudio....ital/opus_2.0_manual.pdf
I have used mine only in dual-mono mode, so cant say how much better it is....

4. Two boards draw more current than one. There are people that have powered a dual-mono system from one LCDPS. So if that is what you are having, I guess you are OK. Just check temp on PSU regulators and R1-4.
