I was thinking of doing an Opus-based rig to attach to my computer and drive some small speakers, possibly these.

The Sympatico seems to be overkill for this purpose. Would a Ventus be able to drive these?

The Ventus is meant for headphones. These are small speakers, not that efficient (88dB/W/m) so they do need a bit more power than a Ventus can provide. You could use small class D amplifier boards inside the speakers provided you create a little extra room for them.

A tripath 2024 or 2020 should do the job.

Just to add another speaker kit for your consideration, check out the GR Research N2X kit: http://www.gr-research.c...=VIEWPROD&ProdID=148 I haven't heard it yet, but I do know from experience that the BG Neo 3 planar tweeters are quite good. There are tons of happy customers and general info about GR stuff here: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=16.0 Personally I'm not a big fan of dome tweeters and tend to go with speakers using magneplanar or better yet AMT tweeters. :)
