Hi Brian
Thanks, yes it does. So Amanero is a slave toCronus, and thus needs the slave for 1080 driver.
But which firmware does Amanero need, if not 1096c3w2?

Ok. Slave for 1080 and 1096c3w2 flashed, and back where I started- 352 and 384/24 heavily distorted, all else including DSD 128 fine.
WWIW two wiring scenarios have both failed. Cronus to short cat 6 cable to Otto II then Buffalo 2; and Cronus to teleporter to short cat 6 to teleporter to pro28se.
I'll take some photos
Thanks for your forbearance and guidance- it’s much appreciated!

Hi
May not be obvious from the pictures but the telporter in the Buffalo is connected via U.FL cables. Plug/socket at dac end, but hardwired to underside of teleporter. All three screens are connected at both ends. The separate Amanero/Cronus server is connected by a cat6 cable; the screen is connected at both ends. Without this the LVDS doesn't work. The case of the server is also grounded to Buffalo via this route, but is isolated from the the usb in. Both Cronus and the Aries Mini have their own floating power supplies. The dac, and its case are grounded to the preamp, which is connected to mains earth.
BTW I use a version of the SEN I/V converter on buffalo's output, hence the four floating rechargeable battery supplies. Buffalo and the teleporter are powered from a Paul Hynes series regulator. I use TP Trident-SR's on the board itself.
Thanks
Paul

Try disconnecting the u.fl screens from ground at the Teleporter. It's possible they are creating a ground loop, since the two modules already share ground at the power supply.

Hi Brian
U.fl screens at teleporter end now disconnected. No change I'm afraid

Hi
Just in case I retried playing a 352/24 file using my laptop/HYSOLID. Same distortion as using Aries Mini. Any other possibilities to try?

Hi
My Vdd reg is a 1.2V Trident SR. Would it be worth trying a 1.3V version? (The 1.2 V version uses an ADM7154 12 regulator, which is fixed output I believe.)
