Update.
I made the following measurements:

Connected Squeezebox Touch digital out to Opus WM8804 receiver module. All lights green.
Receiver -> Opus. Pressed play...

1. Measured AC across ground and + out of Opus: yes, changing between 0.2 to 0.3+ VAC when music playing from SB Touch

2. Connected headphones as described above: + out and ground of Opus. I could hear music, though very distorted

3. Connected headphones across Opus out - & +.: NO music

4. Connected headphones across Opus out - & GND: NO Music

5. Repeated #2 and could hear very distorted music, but at lower levels than previous test 2 results.

6. Repeated #1 with DMM and got VAC across both GND and + ; and GND and -. I measure and AC voltage.

I have a used IVY III coming in that I purchased through Swap at DIYAudio. Will I compromise the system in any way if I replace my existing Ballsie with IVY III?

Thanks TP folks!

Ryan

Unfortunately It is starting to sounds like the analog part of the DAC itself is damaged.

A couple of options:

1) Try to replace this chip (risky - could damage the board or other comps)
2) Replace the module

The WM8741 is significantly better than the WM8740 anyway. :).

Thanks for the quick reply Russ! I'll probably order a new Opus.
